Ao Haru Ride is adapted from Manga series, it is also adapted for a live action movie,
Basically, the Anime and Live Action is more or less different.
The main characters are :
- Yoshioka Futaba (吉岡 双葉)
- Mabuchi Kou (changed name from Tanaka) [馬渕 洸]
- Makita Yuuri (槙田 悠里)
- Murao Shuuko (村尾 修子)
- Kominato Aya (小湊 亜耶)
It is basically a story of an unfinished love that's seperated for about 3 years because the boy (Kou) has a family business.
-skip prologue-
It started in a rainy day, they both went to a shrine near when the rain started, then they 'confessed' but not in a sight. After that day, Kou a.k.a Tanaka disappeared from Yoshioka's sight for 3 years, until ..
One day, Tanaka appeared again at Yoshioka's school cafe, Yoshioka saw him and convince her self that it might be Tanaka, but after she chase him onto school corridors, Tanaka's friend called him "Kou-san ..."
But then, the same thing happened, just like three years ago, Kou said that Yoshioka was too slow to notice him, Yoshioka was surprised, then Kou said he has been on that school from the beginning of the year..
They became best friends again , then the next year they were put at the same class, with Makita , Murao and Kominato, too.
Then, a problem appears, Makita e-mailed Futaba that she fell in love with Kou. Then, Futaba realized that she also fell in love with Kou. She convinced herself to tell Makita, Makita said that they'll just have to have a friendly fight, but Makita feels that Futaba will win, because she's so close with Kou, but for Makita, a fight is a fight. Even though she cries in the bathroom, she isn't mad at all.
So, yes, they are having a fight, to win Kou's heart.
